Event rules

Haven Hong Kong is a free, in-person game jam for teenagers. These are the rules for the weekend and for prizes, including Aseprite licenses.

  1. 1. Who can join

You can join if you are 13 to 18. No experience is required. The jam is in person in Hong Kong on November 14–15, 2026, and it is free.

  2. 2. What you make

You make a video game during the weekend. Any engine or tool is welcome, including Aseprite. You can work on your own or with friends.

  3. 3. How prizes are given

Prizes and merch go to projects that ship a game other people can open and play on itch.io. A build that does not run does not qualify.

  4. 4. The game has to be yours

Build it at the jam. Credit the asset packs, tutorials, and tools you use. Do not submit someone else’s game as your own.

  5. 5. What is not allowed

No NSFW, hateful, or overly graphic content. The Hack Club code of conduct applies the whole weekend. Organizers can ask someone to leave if they break it.

  6. 6. Aseprite licenses

An Aseprite license given as a prize is for one person. Do not resell it or share the installer. Art you make with Aseprite is yours. The Aseprite app stays under Aseprite’s license and cannot be redistributed.

  7. 7. Questions

Parents, teens, and sponsors can write to hong-kong@haven.hackclub.com. The hour-by-hour schedule is still being set. Signing up is how you hear it first.
